FINE ARTS WORK CENTER
IN PROVINCETOWN

Thank you all for a unique and inspiring Fine Arts Work Center Summer Program!

While COVID and improvements to the Stanley Kunitz Common Room meant we couldn’t offer our usual in-person slate of visual arts and writing courses, we were fortunate to host several members of the Work Center Community in one-week and two-weeklong self-directed intensive Summer Project Residencies. Fellows, Summer Program Faculty and Students, and other FAWC short-term residents stepped outside of their usual routine and constrictions imposed by COVID to spend time on-site in beautiful Provincetown creating incredible work.

Additionally, we hosted two in-person plein air workshops led by MARK ADAMS  and BERT YARBOROUGH, allowing students to explore the natural landscape of Provincetown and its environs through writing, drawing, and watercolor.

The Work Center was able to reach those residing outside of Cape Cod, as well! Through our virtual visual arts workshops, instructors DAVID HILLIARD, LINDA BOND, MEGAN HINTON, JOANNE DUGAN, FRED LIANG, and JESS T. DUGAN led students from as far away as Texas, California, Canada, and The Netherlands in photography, drawing, and painting workshops.

We also expanded our 24PearlStreet writing workshops to include members of our beloved Summer Program Faculty, creating virtual writing communities with students from around the world. Both long-time and new FAWC Summer Faculty, including MARIE HOWE, NICK FLYNN, JOHN MURILLO, ADA LIMÓN, ANDRE DUBUS III, PAM HOUSTON, NICOLE SEALEY, EILEEN MYLES, and many more, facilitated week-long poetry, fiction, memoir, and playwriting workshops via Zoom. Additionally, we offered several 4 and 8-week asynchronous workshops, utilizing FAWC’s new online classroom platform.

In this time of transition, we thank you and the entire Work Center community as you created, adapted, and journeyed with us. We look back with our deepest thanks to all, as we look forward to returning in-person next summer.

Stay tuned for Summer 2022!
