READINGS: JOHN MURILLO & JOSEPH CASSARA, ARTIST TALK: DAVID HILLIARD

John Murillo is the author of the poetry collections Up Jump the Boogie (Cypher Books 2010) and Kontemporary Amerikan Poetry (forthcoming from Four Way Books). He is assistant professor of English at Wesleyan University and teaches in the low residency MFA program at Sierra Nevada College. He lives in Brooklyn.

 

 

 

 

 

Joseph Cassara is the author of the critically acclaimed novel The House of Impossible Beauties (Ecco), which was selected by Barnes & Noble as a Discover Great New Writers selection for Spring 2018. He holds degrees from Columbia University and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and was a writing fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center. He currently lives in Fresno, where he is an Assistant Professor of English at the California State University.

 

 

 

 

David Hilliard creates large-scale multi-paneled color photographs, often based on his life or the lives of people around him. He exhibits nationally and internationally and has won numerous awards including the Fulbright and Guggenheim. His photographs can be found in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, among others. He is regular visiting faculty at Harvard University, Massachusetts College of Art & Design and Lesley University.
