Master Printer Series - Jump Start Etching: Photoetching on Copper
Students will get far into the development of an etching by transferring images drawn on clear films onto copper plate coated with a photosensitive resist. The instructor will bring the plates for purchase ($150 for a 24 x 18 inch plate) and students are also welcome to bring their own plates. After the initial image is etched into the plate, it can be further worked using traditional etching techniques. Advanced printing techniques will also be taught to further the quality of the images.
Please bring: images drawn on clear films (such as Duralar Wet Media Film), etching needle, burnisher and scraper and drawing materials such as Sharpie Markers, litho crayon, etc. Ten sheets of white BFK Rives (22 x30 inches) will be provided as part of the materials fee. Additional sheets may be purchased from the Work Center at $5 per sheet.
